Providing a Foundation for Personal Growth
Baia Mare, Romania
This year the Romanians have invited a group to visit Baia Mare in Romania to take part in their Winter Olympics in March. 15 people from S3 travelled to Romania to work with Hope & Homes for Children. More information about HHC can be found here.
Whilst we were there we worked with some of the homes to share our skills in craft work. We also took part in the Spring Festival which is part of the Romanian tradition. We made brooches and cards with the young people to celebrate the day.
Over the past few years several people from S3 have made friends with a group of young people in Romania.
These are young people who have been re-housed following their long term stay in institutions. These young people, and their carers, were invited England to see how we run activities.
This will be the first time a group of people with disabilities has visited Baia Mare in Romania to assist and support the young people living in the small homes.
Whilst we were there we worked with some of the homes to show them how to set up and run Leisure activities.
The group was able to taste traditional Romanian food whilst we were there. Some of us were lucky enough to have sampled the food last July.
