Providing a Foundation for Personal Growth
Staff and participants of Sutton Support Services have an built up an excellent reputation for providing backup, support, advice and training to a number of groups throughout the UK. This includes assisting on a Romanian Exchange visit based in Dorset in 2006. This year we have provided a support group for children and young people in Romania.
We work as marshals for Warwickshire County Cricket Club and for The Great Midland Fun Run.
Several members of the group are already respected as support staff for Sporting Chance, the South West's biggest sporting event for people with disabilities.
Sporting Chance is a 'non-competetive' sports day, giving people with learning disabilities throughout Dorset (and a few neighbouring counties) a chance to experience, and participate in, sports they might not normally get the chance to do.
In the past we have helped in the logistics of the day, setting up and taking down, we have ran events and just recently, produced 'Passports' to monitor and encourage participation.
We have worked with GMFR for a number of years now, and have performed a wide range of activities, from in the early years selling raffle tickets to providing administration support.
